TAMIS 2026

About the event

Dear Colleagues!

The treatment of benign and early malignant rectal tumors is a complex surgical task requiring special expertise. The indication range of Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS), which was developed for this purpose and is currently considered the optimal technical solution, has been expanding in recent years.

Accordingly, in order to push the technical boundaries, in addition to the classic, full-thickness rectal wall excisions, the “partially thick” (submucosal dissection and intramuscular dissection) technique has also appeared in the TAMIS toolbox. However, the latter procedures require serious surgical technical challenges and special training.

At the Department of Surgery, Transplantation and Gastroenterology (STéG) of Semmelweis University, we consider it our mission to take an active role in domestic and regional TAMIS training. Accordingly, in 2025, we held a TAMIS Course enriched with theoretical and live surgical transmission that generated a positive response at our clinic.

Based on the feedback, we will organize the TAMIS Course again on May 18, 2026 at the STéG Clinic, this time with a summary of theoretical up-to-date knowledge as well as hands-on, practical training opportunities. In the practical part, participants will have the opportunity to practice the steps of partial-thickness rectal wall resection, led by expert mentors who are experienced in this. The course is organized taking into account the ESCP standards and is accredited for both Oftex and CME training points.

This time, we recommend the 2026 TAMIS course to a regional and international audience, primarily to surgeons who have already gained some experience in TAMIS surgery, as well as to young colleagues who are just starting their learning period in the field of transanal surgery.

Organizer:

Time is a strange constraint. It constricts and pressures us, while bringing order and continuity to our everyday lives. The ultimate ordering principle. A beginning and an end to everything – and a chronology of the moments in between. A flawless rhythm, a relentless decision. The ultimate power.

Turn it off. Let go and feel the world behind it. The timelessness, the infinity, the illusion of no limits. Because anything is possible.
